Moores Walk Garden to be closed from 19th of August!

St Neots Town Council, in collaboration with Huntingdonshire District Council, are pleased to announce the commencement of improvement works at Moores Walk Gardens, scheduled to begin on 19th August 2024.

This joint initiative comes as a direct response to the concerns and feedback raised by residents regarding the condition of the Moores Walk Garden/Community space. Both councils are committed to enhancing this valuable community asset, making it a welcoming and accessible part of our High Street communal space.

The planned improvements include:

  • Re-pointing of brickwork: Strengthening the garden’s structural elements to improve and ensure longevity.
  • Repair, cleaning, and painting of ironwork: Refreshing the garden’s aesthetic and preventing deterioration.
  • Restoration of benches: Improving existing well used seating through refurbishment
  • Creation of dropped accessible access from the High Street: Enhancing accessibility for all, including those with mobility challenges.
  • Pruning of trees and a new planting scheme: Revitalising the garden’s greenery to create a more inviting environment that is easy to manage.

During the construction period, we are committed to minimising disruption to the community.

Access between the High Street and Tebbutts Road on either side of the garden will remain open and fully accessible for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies. Only the garden area itself will be temporarily fenced off to ensure safety while the works are underway.

We understand that the temporary closure of the garden space may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to complete the project.

The expected completion date for the works is 5th September 2024, after which we look forward to welcoming the public back to enjoy the newly refurbished Moores Walk Garden.
